Council took several procurement and contract actions June 12 to correct clerical errors and move public-works projects forward.
The council repealed and replaced a prior resolution to correct the contract amount for the 2025 asphalt paving program and accepted Barrett Paving Materials Inc.'s bid. The resolution accepts Barrett Paving's bid for the 2025 asphalt paving program in the amount of $611,148.76 and authorizes the city manager to execute needed change orders, with a referenced total authorization level of $672,263.64.
Separately, council also repealed and replaced a resolution to correct a permit number associated with the Holes Creek Briarland land-use permit issued by the Miami Conservancy District; the corrected permit number in the record is 16-4007-1. Council also adopted a resolution rejecting the sole bid submitted for the 2025 parking lot paving program because it was more than 10% higher than the engineer's estimate, and directed staff to re-bid the parking-lot work.
Why it matters: The Barrett Paving contract covers city street resurfacing and is a multi-hundred-thousand-dollar capital project; correcting the contract amount and authorizing change-order authority allows work to move forward. Rejecting the single parking-lot bid preserves fiscal responsibility when only a single, materially over-budget bid is received.
All the measures were put on the agenda and passed by council roll calls recorded in the meeting transcript.
