On June 11, 2025, the Community Activities Commission voted unanimously to request that the City Council change the commission term-expiration date from July 31 to Oct. 31 and to extend the terms of commissioners who would have expired this year to Oct. 31, 2025.
During discussion commissioners said July 31 falls during the busiest part of the summer season and that shifting the date would reduce disruption. One commissioner moved "I motion to change the, commission term and date from July 31 to October 31, and for commissioners that would expire this year, their term extended to 10/31/2025. So I'll make that motion. I motion what I just said." The motion carried on a unanimous voice vote; individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the transcript.
Following the vote the chair said staff (Amy) would draft a document for City Council that outlines the commissionreasons for the change and the requested language extending current terms. No final City Council action was recorded at the meeting; the transcript indicates the commission will forward its recommendation to council for consideration.
