City staff and commissioners on June 11 reviewed logistics for New Castle Days, concerts and fireworks at Lakebourne Park and discussed sponsorship and volunteer recruitment for this summer's events.
Amy, the city staff member who presented the events and recreation report, said vendor interest has been strong: "We already have, a very healthy over 20 I think it's about 25 the last time I checked vendor booth applications." She said summer camp registration and fall youth programming were also underway.
On sponsorships, commissioners were told the subcommittee identified 102 nearby businesses; 26 had agreed to contribute and the program had raised $48,500, "97% of our $50,000 goal is in." The sponsorship tiers (platinum, gold, silver, bronze) were closed because signage and graphics were ordered, but staff said one concert-themed activity remains at a $500 sponsorship level and car-show sponsorships are available at $1,000 each.
Kim, who led the concerts discussion, outlined themes and schedules for the summer series and said the concerts would emphasize local performers and vendors. The meeting mentioned specific concert nights: eras night at 7:30 p.m. July 30, team-spirit night Aug. 6, and beach-party night Aug. 13. The commission discussed volunteer tent staffing and one-hour shifts; sign-up sheets and schedules are hosted in the CAC SharePoint.
No formal action or funding allocation was taken at the meeting; staff will continue vendor recruitment and finalize volunteer rosters and sponsorship paperwork. Commissioners were asked to sign up for volunteer shifts and to direct potential sponsors to remaining $500 and $1,000 opportunities.
