OES/EMS coordinator outlines summer event emergency action plans and EMS credentialing sessions

Bonnie Vanhausen, Allegany County OES and EMS coordinator, updated the committee on June 4 that the office is preparing incident-action plans for summer events including the county fair, a local festival and a balloon rally. Vanhausen said staff are coordinating with the sheriff’s office, Medical Transport Services and the county Department of Health to develop actionable plans for each event.
Vanhausen also reported the office has offered three EMS skills sessions required annually to credential county EMS providers and said the sessions have been well-attended. She explained that Fire Coordinator Bill Day is currently in training and staff should refer to his submitted report for operational details while he is out.
Committee members thanked Vanhausen and emphasized continued coordination among public-safety partners for large events.
