The Allegany County Personnel Committee on June 4 approved a memorandum of agreement between the county and the Allegany County Deputy Sheriffs Association, covering Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2028, and authorized retroactive salary adjustments for eligible employees.
A presenter from the county administrator's office said the four-year agreement (presented for ratification by resolution) covers the period 01/01/2025 through 12/31/2028. The resolution requests that, notwithstanding an earlier county resolution, "retroactive to and from 05/02/2025, each unit employee occupying a position set forth in the agreement ... shall receive the salary or rate of compensation for the step of the grade of the position occupied that is set forth in the salary schedules annexed to the agreement."
The presenter said the retroactive payment will be made to full-time employees who are active on the date of contract ratification by the Allegany County Board of Legislators. The committee moved, seconded and voted "Aye" to ratify the agreement and to authorize the chairman to execute the agreement.
The agreement also included increment recommendations from the sheriff and county administrator for unit employees under sheriff jurisdiction; staff noted the county unit salary plan and annexed salary schedules govern the rates described in the MOA.
