The Allegany County Personnel Committee on June 4 approved incremental pay steps for employees whose first increments were rescheduled, effective July 1, 2025.
The committee heard from a personnel office representative that certain employees hired between July 1, 2024, and December 2024 were not eligible for the usual January 1 increment and have been rescheduled to receive their first increment in July under Resolution No. 1 of 1969. The committee voted to approve the adjustments.
"The first 1 has to do with increments that are due or to be considered, effective, 07/01/2025," the personnel office representative said, adding the recommendation included employee names and increment amounts "for your consideration." Committee members asked whether the procedure would require future repeated approvals under the 1969 resolution; the presenter said the matter is "complicated" and that staff will continue to return to the committee for authorization under the resolution when needed.
Committee members moved and seconded the motion and, when asked, voted "Aye." With six members present and one absent at roll call, the motion was recorded as moved.
The action formalizes adjustments described in Resolution No. 1 of 1969 for employees whose initial increment timing was delayed due to hiring dates in mid- to late 2024. Staff noted the scheduling stems from practices established under that resolution and indicated they will continue to bring similar requests to the committee for administration.
