Glynn County appraisal office introduces two new staff members

Bliss, chief appraiser for the Glynn County Property Appraisal Office, introduced two new employees at the June 12 meeting of the Glynn County Board of Assessors.
The hires are Montrell Lawson, who will work with Yolanda Ward’s Mainland residential team, and Byron Johns, who will join James Lane’s group focusing on commercial condos, homestead support and rural land. “He’s got a great background. Education emphasis has been computer science and, work history,” Bliss said of Lawson. Bliss described Johns as “really an expert in the property appraisal world,” noting Johns previously served as chief appraiser in Wayne County and worked in Glynn County from 2009 to 2018.
Bliss said the office wants to use Lawson’s systems and data-analysis strengths and that Johns’s surveying background adds breadth to the commercial and rural property work. A board member who spoke during the meeting welcomed the hires and thanked them for joining the office. The chief appraiser said the office has been “blessed” to find two quality employees and invited questions before moving on to the next agenda item.
No motion or vote to hire the employees was recorded in the transcript. The introductions occurred during the chief appraiser’s report; the minutes show no separate personnel action taken during the meeting.
