Jonathan Friedman nominated to Salt Lake City Airport Board; council to place appointment on consent agenda

At the June 10 Salt Lake City Council work session, Jonathan Friedman introduced himself as the mayor’s nominee to the Salt Lake City Airport Board.
Friedman identified himself as president and CEO of World Trade Center Utah and said he lives in District 3 and has worked with the airport on air-cargo initiatives and as an advisory-board member. He described work bringing inbound and outbound trade delegations to the city and said the airport is central to the region’s international economic development; he noted the inaugural nonstop Salt Lake–Seoul flight was scheduled to begin in two days.
Council members who spoke praised Friedman’s economic-development experience and encouraged his service on the board. Council Member Pietro noted he has served with Friedman on the Inland Port Board and said Friedman’s insights are valuable in translating economic ideas into policy. Council Member Poilly recalled Friedman’s community work related to Ukraine and thanked him for volunteer leadership.
The council indicated it would put Friedman’s appointment on the formal consent agenda for adoption at the evening meeting; no formal vote was taken during the work session.
