The Village of Jackson board on June 10 approved a request for planning services from Civitec Consulting to perform a zoning code update for the village, not to exceed $65,900.
The item was presented to the board as a recommendation from the budget and finance committee. Trustee Wells moved to approve the RFP award to Civitec and Trustee Kripke seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.
Board members asked why only one proposal was received. Administrator Heitke said he had sent the RFP to multiple firms and that the submitting consultant’s “reputation is well known, in the industry,” which may have discouraged other firms from bidding competitively. Heitke said the RFP’s intent is to make the code more user-friendly for staff, developers and residents and to “enhance self-service” so the ordinance is simpler to read and apply.
The approved contract limit of $65,900 covers planning services to update the village zoning code; the motion authorizes staff to proceed with the engagement. The board did not amend the scope or price at the meeting; any contract execution will follow normal staff procedures.
