On June 10 the Johnston County Board of Education approved personnel recommendations, its final budget amendment for the year and a list of school fees for 2025–26, following staff presentations and public comment.
Personnel: The board approved two assistant-principal contracts (Janlyn Capacetti at Smithfield‑Selma High School and Laurie Evans Farmer at Riverdale Elementary) and a two-year assistant-principal contract renewal for Jamal Trabblefield. The board approved a four‑year principal contract renewal for Jenna Sauls Hair after roll-call voting; the chair announced the result as 4 in favor, 3 opposed.
Advisory appointment: The board voted to reappoint Jessica Strickland to a three‑year term on the METAschool advisory council; the board approved the recommendation by voice vote.
Budget amendment: Finance Director Mr. Britt presented Budget Amendment No. 7, described as the district’s final amendment for the year. The amendment reflected state allotment reconciliations, position allotment adjustments (not new positions), a transfer to provide transportation contingency, and additional Medicaid/federal reimbursements credited to EC funds. The board approved the amendment by voice vote after a short explanation of salary-exception reporting and federal/state reimbursements.
School fees: The board approved the annual list of student fees and noted only a few changes from the prior year, including an adult lunch price increase to $4.75; the district said out-of-district tuition will be calculated after county funding numbers are finalized.
Consent agenda: The board approved consent items 1–19 earlier in the meeting by unanimous voice vote.
