The Farmington City Council on Monday accepted Planning & Zoning Commission recommendations to rezone two parcels and adopted an ordinance amending off-street parking rules in the Unified Development Code.
The council accepted the commission’s recommendation to approve petition ZC 2519 from Stephen Markin of Skyline Civil Group requesting a zone change “from the office professional district to the local neighborhood commercial district for 3.35 acres of property located at 2001 Dustin Avenue and a special use permit to allow for the development of a fast food restaurant with a drive thru window,” the mayor read into the record. The Planning & Zoning Commission had approved that petition 5-0.
The council also accepted petition ZC25-31 from Michael Butler to change 1.11 acres at 1289 West Main Street from industrial to general commercial; that petition also carried a 5-0 Planning & Zoning vote. Council accepted the planning consent items on a 4-0 roll call.
Separately, the council took final action on ordinance number 2025-1373, which amends certain provisions of section 5.2 of the Unified Development Code to revise off-street parking requirements. City staff confirmed the ordinance had been published and brought the item up for final action; the adoption vote was recorded 4-0.
City staff said there were no public requests to pull either consent item for separate discussion and that the planning commission had recommended approval of both petitions. No amendments to the petitions or ordinance were recorded at the council meeting.
