Franklin residents raise safety, noise and wildlife concerns over nighttime blasting near Cross Creek subdivision

Angela Park said the construction activity occurs at night and is a chronic disturbance for family members with disabilities. "There this construction site, the, Carothers Glen construction site is connected to my backyard," Park said, adding that her household includes three autistic people and that blasts have been severe enough to shake the room.
Park and a neighbor reported seeing injured wildlife near the site and said the developer's temporary fencing has holes and drop-offs that pose hazards for deer, children and residents. Park described an episode where a contractor representative responded to her outreach with profane language, and she said sheriff's deputies had been called on multiple occasions but the resident was told the fire department had not been notified before two blast events.
City staff response and next steps City staff advised Park to submit the video evidence to the city recorder at Recorder@FranklinTN.gov; staff also said they would provide a staff contact to the residents and offered to connect them with the Office of the State Fire Marshal for blasting oversight. A staff member named Vernon Gertz was identified in the meeting as an internal resource.
Why this matters Residents said nighttime blasting has disrupted sleep and posed a safety concern, and they described physical hazards where the site borders established yards. Several speakers requested that the city require the developer to provide timely notices (texts, calls or emails) to adjacent property owners when work that may cause blasting or heavy disturbance is scheduled.
