The board approved the Perkins submission on a motion by Mr. Payne, seconded by Dr. Silberman; the clerk called the roll and the motion carried. Several board members praised the presenter’s outreach and work at a regional conference.
Dr. Stone also sought approval for the Jobs for Virginia Graduates (JVG) grant, describing a preliminary allocation of $30,000 to support a school‑based enterprise called the Eagle Press, college tours, community service projects and continued work‑based learning opportunities. The board approved the JVG submission on a motion by Mr. Payne, seconded by Miss Cunningham; the recorded roll call showed those present voting yes.
Both approvals were presented as submissions for preliminary allocations and program planning; final grant award amounts and project details remain contingent on state and grant‑program processes.
