The county’s contribution was listed as $227,500, not to exceed 25% of the project cost, to be drawn from the 2024 Orange County Open Space Fund.
Alan Sorensen, commissioner of planning, summarized the application on behalf of the Orange County Land Trust. “This 1 from the Orange County Land Trust for the acquisition of Gibraltar Rock was 1 of those,” Sorensen said, noting the applicant was seeking $227,500 from the county for the 136‑acre purchase. “This property is situated just a little bit north of the Long Swamp Sanctuary in the town of Warwick.”
Sorensen said the applicant was requesting only 25% of the acquisition funding and had secured the remaining 75% from other sources. He said the application was vetted by the county Planning Department and the Open Space Fund review committee and was recommended for funding through the program.
No public speakers registered comments for the hearing. The presiding officer declared the hearing closed.
