County explores Navy Band performance at SPAC for Siege Weekend; plans remain tentative

Saratoga County's Veterans Affairs Committee discussed plans to pursue a Navy Band performance at SPAC during Siege Weekend, but officials said the effort is tentative and awaiting final approvals.
A committee member told the group on June 3 that county staff and elected officials have reached out to the Navy and to SPAC about hosting Navy Band Northeast for a concert tied to the county's Siege Weekend commemorations. "We're working on trying to get a navy band on our siege weekend at SPAC," the committee member said.
Frank McClements told the committee the Navy band has expressed interest and is tentatively on the calendar, but the band is "waiting to hear from higher up the food chain whether or not they're gonna have any other commitments." McClements recalled the Navy Band Northeast performed at SPAC in 2016 and said the band and venue staff were enthusiastic about the idea.
Committee members noted logistical constraints: SPAC schedules around large events and Live Nation programming, and any military-band appearance must be cleared by Navy command. Organizers said they envision a Sunday mid-afternoon performance that would follow Siege Weekend activities in Schuylerville and could include reenactors and on-site displays.
Ending: Staff described the effort as a work in progress and said they would continue outreach to the Navy and SPAC. No formal commitment or contract was reported during the June 3 meeting.
