It named the National Center on Elder Abuse and Putnam County as partners in promoting awareness and improving social supports such as senior centers, human services and transportation to help older adults stay connected to their communities.
Legislator Eleanor presented the proclamation and read the resolution’s language declaring the date and encouraging the community to recognize older adults’ contributions. The presentation included a reminder that Adult Protective Services can be contacted anonymously at 808-1500 for anyone who has experienced or suspects elder abuse.
The proclamation calls for supporting programs and services that allow older residents to live independently and participate as volunteers and mentors. No formal vote or budgetary action was attached to the proclamation.
