Jamie Mancine, president of the Glendale Elementary PTA, addressed the board during open session to recap the PTA’s work this year and to thank the district for recognition.
“We raised over $18,000 this year for Glendale,” Mancine said, listing staff appreciation events, donations of classroom games and support for field trips and student programs.
Mancine told the board the PTA ran 15 events, held nine appreciation events for staff, donated more than 50 classroom games, supported seven field trips, provided a birthday book to each student and supplied T‑shirts for field trips and leadership assemblies. The PTA also supported the school’s Leader in Me program and its student lighthouse team, and will award a scholarship to one senior next week, Mancine said.
Why it matters: the PTA’s fundraising and volunteer work support classroom programming and student experiences that supplement district resources.
Mancine asked the board and other PTAs to highlight positive work on social media, saying community visibility helps recruiting and retention for volunteer organizations.
No formal board action was taken on the remarks; the board thanked the PTA for its work.
