The City of Pacific Planning and Zoning Commission voted 8–0 to recommend approval of a rezoning request to allow a single-family residence on about 0.51 acres generally located at East Bellevue Street (Franklin County parcel ID 19-1-12-1-004-052.000). The applicant, John and Jennifer ****, said they plan to move to Pacific to be closer to family and would like to begin construction as soon as approvals permit.
Planning staff presented the staff report noting the parcel was previously considered for a duplex and that rezoning to the R1A designation would align the lot with other single-family lots across the street. Commissioners asked routine questions about the proposed garage and lot size; the applicant told the commission the plan includes an attached garage and that the lot can accommodate the footprint shown in the submitted plans.
Commissioner discussion did not raise objections to the rezoning; one commissioner described the proposed single-family plan as an asset to the neighborhood. The commission voted to recommend approval; staff said the item will be scheduled before the Board of Aldermen for an initial reading (June 3) and, if not tabled, a reading and anticipated final vote (June 17).
Following the favorable recommendation, staff and the applicants heard brief procedural guidance about next steps and timeline. The applicants said they hope an earlier approval would allow their contractor to start sooner but acknowledged the Board of Aldermen will take the next action.
