The Harrisonville Board of Aldermen on Monday approved a package of land-use actions — rezonings, final plats and an alley vacation — after staff reported no public opposition on the items.
Planning staff member Christina presented the items, saying she had not received any phone calls or emails on several applications and staff recommended approval. "I have not received any phone calls or emails on this item," Christina said for multiple docket items.
The board approved:
- Council Bill 21 (Ordinance 3726): Rezoning 1.5 acres at 403 Locust Street from M2 (general industrial) to R1 (single-family residential).
- Council Bill 22 (Ordinance 3727): Final plat for Cedar Crossings, Lots 1–53 and a tract located south of Parkwood South and north of 260 Seventh Street.
- Council Bill 23 (Ordinance 3728): Rezoning approximately 20.52 acres west of Jefferson Street to C0 (non-retail business) district.
- Council Bill 24 (Ordinance 3729): Final plat for Burress Ridge, Lots 1–76, south of Burress Drive and west of Mechanic Street (Highway 7).
- Council Bill 25 (Ordinance 3730): Vacation of a 15-foot alley within Lot 2, original town of Harrisonville.
Each item passed by roll call after motions and seconds recorded on the floor; where noted, staff told the board there had been no public calls or emails about the applications and applicants had agreed to staff conditions where appropriate. Aldermen asked only procedural questions about whether prior public comments had been incorporated for Burress Ridge; Christina said minor tweaks were expected before final signing but nothing substantial.
Why it matters: The approvals clear the way for residential and commercial development and finalize plats that enable property sales and building permits. Board votes converted the council bills into the ordinances listed above. No public opposition was recorded at the meeting.
Next steps: Where conditions and signature requirements remain, staff will finalize plats and return signed documents as required by city code.
