The Northside ISD Board of Trustees discussed plans for Team of 8 training, facility-naming procedures and several vendor contracts during the June 10 meeting; the board did not take formal action on any of the items.
District staff said a Team of 8 training session with a TASB-certified trainer (Dr. Tom Norris) is tentatively scheduled for July 30 and would provide three hours of required continuing-education credit for trustees. Staff suggested the session could include goal setting, board operating procedures, the board code of ethics and a short team-building component. Board members and staff also discussed scheduling ISO (data-review) training, which staff said could be presented by Karen Aderman and might be scheduled before the Team of 8 session to inform goal development.
Trustees asked for additional material and noted interest in reviewing certain vendor contracts. Staff reported Jostens' current contract has one year remaining and Flash Photography's contract has approximately two years remaining; graduation logistics involving the Alamo Dome and service contractors were discussed. Trustees asked staff to bring contract summaries and timelines for future review rather than conducting an immediate procurement action.
Monica (staff) was asked to work on scheduling and logistics; staff and trustees agreed to return with details and supporting materials at future meetings. No votes or formal approvals occurred on training, facility-naming policy or contract-review procedure at the meeting.
