Committee authorizes up to $250,000 per year for Mill Creek SSA concrete repairs

The Administration Committee authorized increasing the contract funding for concrete repair work in the Mill Creek Special Service Area, approving up to $250,000 per year for M.M. Peters Construction to remove trip hazards and replace uneven sidewalk squares.
Roger Fonstock explained the Mill Creek SSA maintains sidewalks and public walkways within the special service area and that the recommended increase is a budgeted expense to address an inventory of trip hazards. “This money is being used from the Mill Creek special service area budget to replace sidewalk in and through Mill Creek,” Fonstock said, adding the Mill Creek SSA advisory body recommended the additional funding.
The contract adjustment uses an existing competitively awarded bid (bid no. 23-041) for M.M. Peters Construction; staff said the additional funds will cover more square footage of concrete replacement identified in the SSA inventory. The committee moved and approved the item by roll call; purchasing and staff will execute the increased contract authority under the existing bid arrangement.
Ending: The committee recorded the vote and directed staff to continue work under the SSA budget. The expenditure is charged to Mill Creek SSA funds and not to the county general fund.
