Council members told the public May 15 that the planning and zoning board had received several resignations and appointed three new volunteers to fill openings.

At the start of the meeting the clerk announced confirmed resignations from the planning and zoning board by Lane Macaluso, Gwen Gualeta, and Michelle Canemar, leaving three open seats. Council members then nominated and voted to appoint three residents: Gina Latour, Michael Santolo and Krista Eksterstein (names as recorded in the nomination packet). Each appointment was approved by roll call, 5 yeas, 0 nays.

Council members praised the nominees’ resumes and encouraged residents interested in serving on boards to apply. The council noted an upcoming planning-and-zoning meeting and asked staff to publicize the hearing (May 27 at 6 p.m., Harahan Senior Center) and to post notices on the city marquee and website.
