Council accepts fire marshal report and confirms retail fireworks permit for Walmart site

The Pullman City Council received the Fire Marshal’s 2025 retail fireworks permit investigation report on June 10 and recorded the valid application for retail fireworks sales at 1690 SE Harvest Drive (Walmart Store Number 1870).
Fire Marshal Darren Jones explained that Samuel Palmer applied for the permit and would be supplied by American Promotional Events (doing business as TNT Fireworks). The application packet included required documentation and an authorization letter from Walmart permitting retail sales at the site. Jones said the same applicant and supplier had previously supplied permits in 2022–2024 and that "there's been no problems with this vendor or permit applicant. It has been processed and approved." He referenced Pullman City Code 3.160.015 subsection 7(b) that governs application investigation and reporting.
Retail fireworks sales are permitted in the city from July 1 through July 4 each year, between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., consistent with city code; the council recorded the report and no objections were raised during the presentation.
