KIEL — The Kiel City Council voted to accept the Wastewater Treatment Facility compliance and maintenance annual report and to approve a personnel transfer to the wastewater plant.
Council approved Resolution 2025-5, accepting the annual compliance report. Council members praised the wastewater staff and noted the facility received a top score in the compliance review. The motion to accept the report passed unanimously.
Separately, the council approved the transfer of Patrick Langfeld from the Department of Public Works to the wastewater treatment plant operator position. The council recorded a starting wage of $33.58 per hour with an effective date of June 11, 2025. City staff said Langfeld has training and on‑the‑job familiarity with the facilities and that a timeline exists for any outstanding certifications required for the operator role. Department leadership described Langfeld as an experienced employee whose internal move will retain institutional knowledge within the city workforce.
Both actions were moved and seconded by council members and approved by roll call vote. Council also noted active recruitment to fill remaining Department of Public Works openings.
