Engineer's office asks council to extend multiple maintenance contracts; council approves one-year extensions

Mader said the crack routing, cleaning and sealing contract with Stripe Force 1 has repeatedly returned the same bidder and the company offered to hold its price; he recommended extending the contract through Aug. 31, 2026. The council moved and the motion passed.
Mader also recommended an extension of the labor-and-equipment contract with EO Habits Builders—Mader noted the contractor has been charging $1,700 per day and that competing bids in prior years had been much higher. Alderman Martin praised the local contractor for maintaining low pricing and the council approved the recommended extension.
For internal television inspection and cleaning—which supports sanitary sewer and storm drainage maintenance—Mader recommended continuing with two contractors, CES and SEMS, citing past bid patterns and the operational need to have available vendors for emergency response. The council approved the extension.
Council discussion included clarification that the contracts are for labor and equipment, with the city buying materials in some cases, and that extensions are allowed where labor-and-services procurements and bid-law conditions apply. No new procurement solicitations were authorized at the meeting beyond the approved extensions.
