The Roswell ISD board approved the fiscal year 2025-26 fixed operating budget authorization for Sydney Gutierrez, the district-authorized charter school that enrolls roughly 196 students, during the June 10 meeting.
Olga Atkinson, who identified herself as district grant supervisor and business manager for Sydney, presented the school's budget. "There are not so much changes in terms of we still have 196 students in Sydney," she said, and walked through revenue and staffing assumptions.
The presentation said Sydney remits a 2% administrative fee of the charterSEG to the district for central services plus an annual $20,000 payment for access to district bids, payroll, HR and finance systems. Atkinson said Sydney maintains its own governing council, operates under the district-authorized charter, and projects total SEG-derived revenue of about $2,396,469 using the PED tool (pending final SEG notices).
Board members asked about enrollment trends, staffing levels (Atkinson said total staff is about 21 with roughly 15-18 teachers) and insurance costs. Atkinson confirmed the charter uses the district's insurance pool (Poms/Palms) and that some figures are estimates pending personnel changes and final state unit values.
The board moved and approved the Sydney Gutierrez fixed operating budget authorization by voice vote.
