County staff complete property walk-throughs; IPMG risk review finds maintenance items to address
Summary
County administrator and staff described a multi-site appraisal and risk-evaluation process led by IPMG and said facility maintenance items identified in walk-throughs have been assigned to county maintenance staff.
Stephenson County staff briefed the committee on a countywide property appraisal and risk-evaluation process conducted by IPMG and on follow-up maintenance work assigned to county crews.
The county administrator said IPMG’s Mark Bell visited county outdoor properties on May 22 to perform a five-year appraisal and a three-year walk-through and risk assessment; staff then accompanied him for building walk-throughs at nursing center facilities, the health department, the highway department and other outbuildings. The county administrator said a formal written summary from IPMG was pending and that Mark Bell planned to return on June 25 to complete inspections of three sheriff’s buildings.
County facilities staff and the county’s maintenance lead (Wally, named in the meeting) have received IPMG’s initial findings and were assigned repairs and other follow-up work for sites including the Ken Monument landings and other outdoor properties. The administrator said some items could be corrected immediately during walk-throughs and that new equipment—a covered trailer and a mower with a five-year warranty—had been obtained for maintenance work.
No committee action was required; staff said the IPMG report and a draft of any department-head contract changes would come back to the board or committee in subsequent weeks.
