City of Concord staff recommended awarding the annual street preservation contract to Fairview Corporation, the lowest responsive bidder, at $4,972,499.95.
Philip, the city’s transportation representative, told council the contract covers resurfacing approximately 17.33 lane miles and 2,000 tons of patching with a contract term of 180 days from the notice to proceed. He said the work will include downtown streets and will tie into the Union Street streetscape project, installing matching decorative crosswalks on Market, Corbin and Spring streets to create a consistent look.
Philip said staff will publish a map on the city’s transportation page after the council motion passes showing the full list of streets included; he noted some streets named in discussion were Crowell, portions of Young and Old Davidson Place. The presentation did not include a formal council vote in the transcript; the item was presented for council consideration.
Staff answered questions about schedule and project sequencing; no speaker requested postponement. If awarded, work is expected to proceed after July 1 following the fiscal-year transition and issuance of a notice to proceed.
