The Arlington Heights School District 25 Board of Education on June 10 approved the district's personnel plan and salary schedule adjustments for 2025'26 and authorized a memorandum of understanding with the Arlington Heights Teacher Association to launch a microcredential program for certified staff.
Board members voted unanimously, 7'0to'0, to approve the personnel plan after district staff outlined staffing additions aimed at matching student needs and program growth. The board also approved nonunion compensation changes and administrative contracts, and approved the microcredential MOU, which the district and the teachers'association described as a competency'based, job'embedded professional learning pathway that can count for professional development hours and salary schedule advancement under the existing collective bargaining agreement.
Under the personnel plan, the district recommended continuing contingency-supported positions including an LMC team leader stipend, lunch supervision, additional PE teacher support, two creative-arts sections at Thomas Middle School and two district registered-nurse floaters. Special-education increases included additional resource teacher full-time equivalents at Olive and South, increased social-work FTE at Windsor and Westgate, extra speech-language and occupational therapy capacity, a board-certified behavior analyst, and two student services program specialists (one at Windsor and one at Westgate). The plan also recommended an adjustment in multilingual support at South Middle School, administrative and manager restructuring at the central office, and increased custodial support.
District staff told the board the teaching-assistant compensation structure will move to a three-tier model to reflect varying responsibilities. Administrators not currently in multiyear contracts were offered one- or two-year contracts to retain leadership while remaining fiscally responsible, staff said.
The microcredential MOU specifies that successful participants earn professional development hours and, if eligible, college credits that can be applied for salary-schedule advancement per the district's collective bargaining agreement; the program runs through the end of the current contract period in June 2026.
All motions passed unanimously. The calendar revision to move a planned school improvement day from April 6 to March 17 was presented as information to avoid student presence on an anticipated primary election day and will return for action at a later meeting.
