Superintendent highlights graduations, free summer meals and retiree recognition

Everett — Superintendent Chad Saltzman opened the June 10 meeting with a report that highlighted commencement schedules, summer learning and free meals for children, and recognition of district retirees.
“Over 1,200 students will be walking across the stage to receive their diplomas,” Saltzman said, announcing that Sequoia High School’s graduation would begin Thursday evening and that Everett, Cascade and Jackson high schools would hold commencements on Saturday.
Saltzman also told the board that the district will offer free meals for all children up to age 18 from June 30 through Aug. 14 at parks, libraries and community centers; details and site lists will be posted on the district website. He encouraged families to consult the district webpage for locations and menus.
The superintendent thanked the district’s retirees and HR staff for the June 3 retirement celebration, noting the district honored more than 50 retirees who have served Everett students. Saltzman also previewed summer learning programming under the district’s “Level Up” theme and urged families to visit the district website for registration and activities.
Board members offered congratulations to students and retirees during board comments and noted the superintendent’s report concluded the informational portion of the meeting. No district action was requested or taken on these items during the session.
