He said public works projects are project‑funded and pausing work would delay completion. Later in the meeting commissioners gave consensus to “keep the crew fully loaded with employees so that we can keep these projects moving forward,” and asked staff to monitor budgets closely.
No formal ordinance or permanent change to the countywide hiring‑freeze policy was adopted at the meeting; administrators said specific exemptions and budget impacts will return for future consideration.
