Council appoints Deborah Hall and Lisa Long to Library Board of Trustees

The Glendora City Council appointed Deborah Hall and Lisa Long to two vacancies on the Library Board of Trustees after interviewing multiple candidates.

The council interviewed a broad slate of applicants for two openings, including candidates with long local ties and professional experience in education, nursing and business. After members cast ballots, the clerk announced Deborah Hall and Lisa Long as the two appointees.

Applicants highlighted priorities for the library board: broaden digital access and awareness of existing online resources such as Hoopla and Libby; expand intergenerational and peer tutoring programs that link Citrus College, Glendora High School and younger students; and develop volunteer pipelines to support staff and programming. Deborah Hall, a 31‑year teacher who said she has run family literacy programs, noted free e‑resources that can help residents pursue training and financial aid: "There are billions of dollars waiting to be accessed by the community," she told the council when describing the e‑library and scholarship resources. Lisa Long and other candidates proposed cross‑age tutoring, evening literacy events and partnerships with local businesses to sponsor programs.

Councilmembers thanked applicants and said the city would retain other applications on file for future openings. The appointments fill two current vacancies; the council did not adopt changes to library policy or budget at the meeting.
