Guymon City Council approves library’s 2025–2028 long-range plan

The council approved the Guymon Public Library’s 2025–2028 long-range plan, a roadmap for staff development, collections, facilities, outreach and programming the library will include in its upcoming state report.
Library Director Blair presented the Guymon Public Library’s 2025–2028 long-range plan and told the council the plan—updated every four years—serves as a roadmap for staff development, programming, collection decisions and outreach. She said the plan was developed with input from staff, the library board and a community survey.
“Every four years we rewrite our long range plan. This one is for 2025 through 2028,” Blair said, adding the state asked for details on outreach in this year’s annual report.
Blair told the council the library’s summer reading program is in full swing and listed programs for children, young adults and adults, including an escape room for adults and daily programs during June.
A motion to approve the library’s 2025–2028 long-range plan passed with four ayes. Council members complimented staff work on programming and outreach during the summer months.
The plan will be submitted to the state as part of the library’s annual report; Blair said some items in the plan may not be completed while others may be added as needs evolve.
