Commission approves addition of 'Wyndham' branding to Chateau Saint Denis sign
Summary
The commission approved a signage change that adds Wyndham branding to the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel sign; the hotel representative said the Wyndham lettering is a registered trademark and must remain in its trademarked font and spacing, and commissioners noted the result will place three different fonts on the façade.

The Natchitoches Historic District Commission cleared a request from the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel to add the Wyndham name to the hotel’s existing façade sign, after a representative said Wyndham’s trademark font and spacing limit design changes.
Patrick Golier, representing Chateau Saint Denis, told commissioners the proposed addition would use Wyndham’s registered block font and would be proportionate to the large wall where the hotel name appears. “We submitted a graphic that would show…Wyndham is a registered trademark, font that they use. It has to be that,” Golier said.
Commissioners asked about size, color and materials. Golier said the Wyndham lettering would be 17.5 inches tall, finished in black, and fabricated in the same material as the hotel’s existing letters. Commissioners noted that the façade would then display three different fonts and sizes but agreed to allow the addition because the applicant said the trademarked branding must remain unchanged.
The commission instructed staff to proceed with the installation as individual lettering and gave the representative permission to move forward with fabrication.
The representative thanked the commission and left the meeting.
