Julia Coleman asked the Natchitoches Historic District Commission on a routine agenda item for approval to install a driveway and fence at 115 Cypress Street. The commission approved the application by voice vote.
The applicant told commissioners she will install a gravel driveway that runs down the right side of the house and a granite parking pad at the rear. "Yes. My name is Julia Coleman, and the address is 115 Cypress Street. And we're here to get approval for a fence and driveway," Coleman said. She confirmed the driveway will be a solid gravel surface, not the older two-track style.
Coleman said the fence will match the material and height of the metal fence already installed by the adjoining Dean Dermatology and that her contractor will be ProFence. She described an electronically operated gate across the driveway, a pedestrian gate at the sidewalk, chain-link down both sides of the property and a six-foot privacy wood fence at the rear. Commissioners confirmed the front metal fence will be approximately four feet and the side chain link six feet.
Commissioner Donahoe moved to approve; Commissioner Wilson seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote with no recorded dissents.
The approval authorizes the property owner to proceed with the work presented to the commission. The project will be subject to the commission's routine inspection and any applicable permitting requirements.
