Commissioners approve transformer permit and authorize bidding for new dump-truck equipment

Adams County commissioners signed a permit allowing Indiana Michigan Power to replace transformers on County Road 150 West and authorized bidding to outfit a newly delivered single-axle dump truck.
County staff presented one utility permit from Indiana Michigan Power for work on County Road 150 West, between 800 South and 850 South. The staff member said the company will remove two existing pads and replace transformers in the same location; commissioners approved signing the permit. “They’re gonna replace them… right there, same spot,” a staff member said while introducing the permit; a commissioner moved to sign and the motion passed.
Road department staff reported the county recently received a new single-axle dump truck and requested permission to bid out installation of the dump bed, body and related equipment. The board authorized staff to proceed with bidding the body and associated equipment for the new truck.
Staff also provided updates on ongoing road work: 300 North road paving was nearly complete with edge stone finishing, and a separate 7-Up South project had contractor Fleming’s removing existing asphalt to expose subgrade and allow pipe crews to begin work. Staff noted the work would give a chance to inspect underlying conditions and make any necessary improvements.
In land-use action, the commissioners approved the Becker Subdivision (minor subdivision) with access on 200 West; staff confirmed required signatures and planning review were complete and the motion carried.
What’s next: staff will issue bids for the truck body and equipment, monitor ongoing paving and pipe work, and proceed with permit coordination with Indiana Michigan Power.
