Commission appoints candidates to three rural fire district seats and reappoints compensation-committee member

The Gallatin County Commission on May 27 appointed three candidates to special-purpose district fire boards and added a member to its county compensation committee.
Staff reported vacancies created by lack of candidate filings in the May 6 special-purpose district election and by a resignation. Karen Brown was appointed to a one-year unexpired term on the Gallatin Gateway Rural Fire District board, expiring in 2026. Brian Edwards was appointed to a three-year unexpired term on the Willow Creek Rural Fire District board (expiring in 2028), and Greg Strohacker was appointed to a one-year unexpired term on the Willow Creek board (expiring in 2026). A commissioner moved and the appointments were approved by voice vote.
The commission also appointed Judge Brian Adams to a three-year term on the county compensation committee, with that term expiring May 1, 2028. The vacancies and appointments were advertised in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and posted on the Gallatin County website, staff said. There was no recorded public opposition in the meeting record.
