Gallatin County approves $232,816 budget amendment to cover wildfire incident costs

The Gallatin County Commission on May 27 approved a resolution amending the fiscal year 2025 public safety fund budget for Emergency Management to recognize $232,816 in incident revenue from the Montana Department of Administration.
Patrick Browning, Gallatin County Emergency Management, presented the amendment and told the commission the funds were incident revenue from last summer. “That money will go into replacing, expenses that we've already covered for those instance, such as personnel and travel costs,” Browning said. He added some funds will be used for rented equipment and will be rolled into capital money as part of the county's vehicle replacement program.
Commissioners opened the item for public comment, heard none, and a commissioner moved to approve Resolution 2025-041. The motion carried by voice vote.
Browning said the amendment captures reimbursement for expenses already incurred during emergency responses and will be used to replenish operational and capital budgets for emergency assets. The meeting record does not detail a line-by-line allocation; commissioners did not request additional breakdown at the public hearing.
