The Troy City School District Board of Education approved a Troy High School cross-country trip to Loudonville, Ohio, and discussed and approved adjustments to school breakfast prices to address rising food costs.
A staff presenter reviewed the meal program and recommended raising elementary breakfast from $1.10 to $1.75 and junior high and high school breakfast from $1.35 to $2.00. The presenter said students eligible for free or reduced-price meals would continue to receive breakfast without charge. Board members compared Troy’s proposed prices to nearby districts: several districts were cited as charging $1.75–$2.00 for K–12, while some districts participate in a statewide initiative that allows universal free meals where the free-and-reduced percentage meets the threshold. The board completed a roll-call vote and recorded affirmative votes from members present.
Separately, the board approved the Troy High School cross-country trip; a motion to approve the trip passed with the members voting in the affirmative.
Superintendent (or personnel lead) David Dunham introduced Dr. Deborah Turner as the district’s new director of people services and introduced Rob Berryman as a newly hired intervention specialist. Dunham described an extensive search process for the director role and noted the new hires bring experience from districts and county ESCs. The personnel agenda included several other hires and contract adjustments, including classroom teachers and supplemental positions; one revision adjusted Courtney Wright’s contract step placement.
Donations totaling $943.23 for June and $184,132.04 year-to-date were acknowledged; the board accepted gifts and expressed appreciation for community support. The board took no substantive policy action beyond approving the trip, fee adjustment and accepting donations and personnel appointments as presented.
