Tunica County Board of Supervisors on May 29 approved a motion to consider and adopt the county's jail meal law and accepted the Tunica County Sheriff's Office monthly financial report.
The action came during the sheriff's department report. "The separation of employment report for the month of May, we had 0 employees, for terminations for the month of May," said Donna, a representative of the Tunica County Sheriff's Department. She reported the office's depository receipts were $3,300, revenue received $14,166.41, and reimbursements from the Mississippi Department of Corrections for six inmates totaled $1,520, bringing the total to be reimbursed to the county to $18,986.41. Grant reimbursements for the month were zero.
Board members voted on the jail meal law with the motion carried by voice vote. "The motion is All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Motion carries," the chair said after the vote.
No further detail was provided in the meeting minutes about changes to meal pricing or how the policy will be implemented. The sheriff's office report did not list any grant reimbursements for May and noted no employee separations for the month.
The board did not set a follow-up hearing date on operational specifics during the meeting minutes provided.
