Weld County commissioners approved the purchase of one new 2025 John Deere 250P excavator for the Public Works Department on May 19 at a total cost of $284,282.98.
Fleet Services requested the purchase under Sourcewell cooperative contract number 011723-JDC. County staff said Weld County Code section 5-4-80 exempts purchases made from cooperative contracts from the competitive procurement process. Fleet services reported the excavator is budgeted for 2025 and recommended the purchase to meet equipment needs for public-works operations.
Commissioner Jason Maxey moved to approve the resolution authorizing the purchase and Commissioner Kevin Ross seconded; the board approved the resolution. Staff noted the purchase would be processed through Fleet Services and the chair was authorized to sign necessary documents.
The purchase will be completed pursuant to the cooperative purchasing contract terms and conditions and incorporated into the department's budgeted equipment replacements for 2025.
