The Eureka Union Board approved a contract with Superior Sports to deliver enriched physical education sessions at three district schools, with classroom teachers remaining the official PE instructors.
Dr. Gina Myers presented the item and described Superior Sports as a partner who will deliver modeled activities twice per week with an emphasis on sports and fitness topics. "The classroom teacher remains as the instructor for PE. However, Superior Sports is going to be there twice a week to provide an enriched experience ... and the hope is that the teachers will learn as well from the modeling," Myers said.
Staff reported teachers have given strong positive feedback about the program's facilitation. The board moved and voted to approve the contract; the motion carried with no recorded opposition.
The program will operate under site teachers' oversight, and staff said they will monitor implementation and teacher support as the program is delivered.
