Rosewood High School presented diplomas to the Class of 2025 at Branch Pope Stadium, where school leaders highlighted academic and extracurricular accomplishments and recognized graduates' next steps.
School leaders said the class earned an average GPA of 3.2 and was offered more than $1.8 million in scholarships. Administrators also listed athletic and arts achievements tied to the class: 30 conference championships, 17 regional appearances, three regional championships, three state appearances, two state runner-up finishes and one state championship. Arts and music honors included multiple All-State and All-County selections, college honor-band invitations and recipients of the Fine Arts Seal, the school said.
The school noted other academic honors and programs: six seniors attended the Governor's School, seven seniors qualified for the Bison Benefit to attend Wayne Community College tuition-free, and 54 of 114 seniors completed career and technical education concentrator programs. Administrators named several post-graduation placements reported during the ceremony, including colleges and community colleges such as the University of Mount Olive, NC A&T, Methodist University, Sandhills Community College, Pitt Community College and the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Two seniors accepted enlistment offers with the Army National Guard, the school said.
Speakers at the ceremony included the salutatorian, Georgia Brogdon, who introduced graduating students, and a student who delivered the valedictory address. School administrators presided over the conferral of diplomas and presented individual graduates on stage during the ceremony. The ceremony included a student marshal and musical performances that accompanied the program.
The principal and senior class representatives publicly thanked faculty, staff and families for supporting students throughout their time at Rosewood High School. Administrators asked parents and grandparents in the audience to stand for recognition and asked the graduates to move their tassels as diplomas were conferred.
The ceremony closed with a student speaker urging classmates to welcome challenge and to support one another as they move into the next phase of their lives. School officials encouraged graduates to report any lost items (a debit card was recovered and left at the podium for a named student) and closed the program by congratulating the graduates.
The school's listing of honors, scholarship totals and college destinations were given during the ceremony by school administrators and program presenters.
