Vice Mayor Chris Mayer and others emphasized the committee could help expand Waterfront Park programming and coordinate business, faith‑based groups and volunteers.
Public commenter Danny Fields, who said he represents faith‑based volunteer groups, described ongoing partnerships with the city and offered to collaborate on several events, including a July 26 backpack giveaway, Carefest (September) and Fall Fest/Trunk or Treat. “Somebody Cares, Light of the World and other organizations are willing to partner with you,” Fields said during public comment.
Action: The council amended and approved Resolution 25‑35 to create the Port Richey Event Committee and include the mayor or the mayor’s designee among its members; the motion passed by voice vote. Councilmembers asked staff to return with committee selection criteria and an implementation timeline.
