Shenendehowa honors spring athletes, highlights state and national qualifiers

The Shenendehowa Central School District Board of Education on Monday recognized student-athletes from the spring season, celebrating team results, individual sectional and state qualifiers, and academic honors.
Athletics presenter Mr. Louvera and Superintendent Dr. Robinson led the recognition and invited multiple teams and individual athletes to the front of the meeting chamber to mark recent accomplishments. The spring season included more than 700 participating athletes on 19 teams across eight sports with 45 coaches, the presentation said. Seven of eight varsity teams met the criteria to be recognized as scholar-athlete teams, and 143 individual athletes earned pins for meeting a 90 percent or higher academic threshold.
Track and field received extended attention. Presenter Mr. Louvera named sectional champions and state qualifiers including Riley Lynch, Leila Busri, Addie Morelli, Courtney Prowicki and others; several relay teams were listed as state or national qualifiers and some athletes were headed to state championships in Middletown or national meets in Philadelphia. Boys and girls teams, plus other spring sports, were similarly highlighted: the softball team was 19-2, won a regional championship and was scheduled to play in the New York state final four; baseball, lacrosse, tennis, unified programs and golf state appearances were also noted.
Coach Decker, speaking for the softball staff in Coach Parkinson’s absence, praised the team’s cohesion and resilience, saying the players “play the game the right way” and singled out senior leadership for bringing younger players along. The board invited teams and coaches forward for photos and brief remarks.
Board members and district leaders thanked coaches, athletic trainers, faculty managers and families for their support. Dr. Robinson and athletics staff emphasized that the district values both athletic achievement and academic performance.
The recognition segment concluded with reminders about upcoming championship dates for teams still competing and a request to continue supporting students as they prepare for final exams and graduation.
