Council authorizes $122,594 thermoplastic pavement-marking work order with Snohomish County

The Mill Creek City Council on June 10 authorized a work order with Snohomish County Public Works to apply thermoplastic pavement markings across city streets, approving a not-to-exceed amount of $122,594.64.
Public Works staff said the county will perform full replacement-style markings (crosswalks, stop bars, speed markings and arrows) under the cities’ interlocal agreement and charge staff- and equipment-based rates plus a 20% county overhead as provided for in the ILA. Staff said the county’s quote is for full replacement; Mill Creek will receive work only where needed but used the full-replacement quote to budget conservatively.
Council member Steckler asked whether curb/address markers were included; staff replied those are HOA or other vendor responsibilities and not part of the thermoplastic scope. Council member Allison asked whether a near-faded crosswalk at 30th/Seattle Hill was included; staff confirmed the intersection is on the packet list.
The motion to authorize the manager to execute the work order passed 6-0.
What was approved: City Manager authorized to execute a work order with Snohomish County Public Works to perform thermoplastic pavement markings in an amount not to exceed $122,594.64; funds will come from the Road Improvement Capital Fund (318).
