Vigo County commissioners voted on June 3, 2025, to certify the county’s covered‑bridge count to the state, an action required to receive certain state distributions for covered‑bridge maintenance.
“Office of Indiana State Comp Controller is collecting statewide data to determine the eligibility for covered bridge funding,” Miss Tretchings said, and she asked the commissioners to approve the county’s certification that it has one covered bridge on the county road system, located at Fowler Park.
Commissioners approved the certification and Tretchings said she would sign the form after the meeting. The auditor said the certification is an annual requirement; when asked how much funding the county might receive, she estimated “around 16,000 some odd” dollars but did not provide a precise figure.
The item was handled as a routine county administrative certification; no further action or conditions were placed on the certification during the meeting.
