Councilor Murphy filed a hearing order requesting public review of the city’s finalized traffic and parking management plan for game days at White Stadium. The order asks the Committee on Planning, Development, and Transportation to hold a hearing so residents can review the assumptions and enforcement mechanisms in the plan prior to the stadium’s planned 2026 opening.
Murphy said redevelopment of White Stadium and large‑scale events raise neighborhood questions about parking, shuttle routing, towing enforcement, permit restrictions and equity for neighborhoods such as Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Fields Corner and Savin Hill. She noted the public comment period for the draft plan closed in May and that some communities remain concerned about proposed bus pick-up and staging at neighborhood transit hubs; she said some pickup locations (e.g., Fields Corner) may no longer be proposed, while JFK/UMass remains on the list.
Murphy asked that the final plan be publicly reviewed to ensure the plan’s assumptions are feasible and that enforcement measures will protect local access needs. The clerk referred docket 1207 to the Committee on Planning, Development, and Transportation.
Why it matters: Game‑day traffic plans for a large venue can significantly affect parking availability, residential streets, transit operations and neighborhood quality of life; the council sought transparency and community input ahead of stadium operations.
