Representatives of the Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival thanked the city and presented three checks totaling $1,150 to support city departments and volunteers who helped with the event.
Len Campbell and Tom Wandakowski spoke to the Superior City Council to report a large turnout for the festival and to thank city staff and volunteers. Campbell said the weather and attendance were excellent and that departments27 assistance made the event successful.
Campbell said the checks would support the police auxiliary and other departments that provided services such as handicap-van support through Senior Connections and emergency planning assistance. He specifically thanked Chief Peters, Chief Mary Morgan and organizers including Mark McGillis and the volunteers who staffed events.
Council members acknowledged the contribution and the auxiliary27s work supporting community events.
