Commissioner reports chip-and-seal prep, levee weed control and a radar speed sign at city park

Commissioner Meador reported routine public-works work over the past two weeks, including preparing the chip-and-seal rack, spraying weeds along the levee, mowing wet areas where possible and cleaning storm intakes.

"Been working on the last couple weeks, been working on the chip and seal rack, getting it ready, sprayed some weeds along the levee. We mowed in quite a few places, and this is probably a challenging job keeping up with that with the rain we're having. Cleaned out the storm intakes a couple times. We've also cut a few limbs and branches down in certain areas and also installed a radar speed limit site in at the city park, which it looks really nice," Commissioner Meador said.

The report was presented during the council's reports and communications portion of the meeting; no formal action or votes were recorded on these maintenance activities. The installation of the radar speed sign at the city park was described as complete; officials did not provide details on the sign's speed threshold, vendor, or cost during the meeting.
